January 31, 2024 51st Anniversary Vacation

Hopefully you’ll find the following photographs as interesting and meaningful as we found them. On our 51st anniversary Rayleen, my wife, and I went to some of our favorite places. The north coast of California is amazingly beautiful. Point Reyes National Seashore is not only beautiful, but teaming with wildlife. We saw coyotes, Thule Elk, deer, a river otter, a Bob Cat, Vultures, Elephant Seals, Harbor Seals, a Golden Eagle, hawks and many other birds. In Carmel we saw Sea Otters. It was a great trip. These are places I definitely want to go to again. Please feel free to leave comments below.

This has been an amazing last couple of days! This is more of a two day trip, maybe even a three day trip. On this adventure we went through La Quinta to Salton Sea where I got stuck in fish bone quick sand, then to Bombay Beach, then on to Salvation Mountain, Slab City, East Jesus and finally to an over night in Calexico. The next day we headed for Mexicali, Mexico, Plaster City, the last operating non tourist narrow gauge in the United States, Jacumba and finally home. This was two very full days. Quite a fun adventure!

We took a little trip to Santa Cruz and I thought it would be great to get some pictures at Maverick’s Beach. Well that didn’t work out. But I thought I’d put a couple out anyway. I also went looking through some other pictures I plan to enlarge and thought I’d select a couple to to add to this post. Hope you enjoy.

July 2023

We took a summer vacation through 10 states. We went through Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, New Mexico, Arizona and California. I just wanted to share a few pictures. We had a chance to go to some amazing places. We went to Yellowstone, Devil’s Tower, Little Big Horn, Deadwood, Sturgis, Fort Collins, Georgetown, and Durango. Hope you enjoy.

February 2023

We just returned from a fabulous trip to Santa Cruz County, near the town of Pescadero. So many beautiful hiking trails along the coast! You could never pick out the best one. Most of the trails in Ana Nuevo State Park lead to the ocean. This was a great time to go exploring and hiking. It was, however, a bit muddy. I hope you enjoy the few pictures I have selected to post. I always enjoy your comments!

A Brief Adventure to 29 Palms

Rayleen and I went camping out in Desert Hot Springs. It certainly is a hot desert and hope does spring eternal. 29 Palms does have an artsy aspect to it. We found some strange and interesting places.

In 29 Palms we visited: 1) Pioneertown, an old Hollywood set for westerns, now a tourist attraction with interesting buildings and a real cool eatery. 2) Christ Park, an exhibit of New Testament moments. 3) The Institute of Metaphysics, 4) Noah Purifoy Desert Art is a fine collection of desert art made, I think, mostly from found items. 5) These last three places were located next to each other: Crochet Museum, Bubble Beauty Salon and Joshua Tree Saloon. All very interesting and worth a visit. The hamburgers at the saloon were incredible.

September 2022 Croatia Pictures

Ray and I just got back from an amazing trip. We went to Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Italy. We went to UNESCO World Heritage Sites at Plitvice and Split. We also we to Sarajevo, Dubrovnik, Postojna Cave, St. Marks, Venice, Trestie, Zagreb and so much more. It was a great trip. We were there for two weeks. A fun and exciting trip. Hope you enjoy a few of the pictures.

Travel Series #2 Coronado

You can do this in any order. But this is what I would recommend. First stop USS Midway at 910 N Harbor Drive. There is really quite a bit to do there: street vendors, kissing statue, USO dedication, and of the ship. Then a stop at Balboa Park so very much to do there. There is the Model Railroad Museum, the Fleet Science Center, the Eva Everson Fountain, several art museums and just so much more than that, you could spend a day there. Next we went to the L Frank Baum House at 1101 Star Park Cir. Next we went Coronado Ferry Landing. Then we headed down to Imperial beach, then Sliver Strand Beach and then Coronado Hotel and Central Beach and also tried to find the sunken ship. Lastly we went to 1107 Orange ave, McP’s Irish Bar, had some drinks and food. There are so many things toes and do including many wonderful restaurants and bars. This was our day trip. Yours could be different.
